VILLA DETAILS
The Bushman’s Hideout is an old colonial-style luxury villa
set in the natural African bush gardens of Zanzibar Villas’
private estate. The villa is built on solid ancient coral reef
rock and is surrounded by a natural African paradise garden,
full of wildflowers, game such as Dik-Dik antelopes and bush
pigs, and a variety of colorful bird and butterfly species. Many
animals come to drink at the watering hole or graze on the grass
in front of the main veranda in the early mornings and evenings.
Originally built in 1996 for an Englishman who worked for 20
years in the African bush, the decor is a mix of hunting lodge,
traditional Zanzibari and rustic African styles, which all
contribute to its unique atmosphere.
The villa layout is all on a single level with solid wooden
floors elevated above the bush and gardens, with a large front
veranda and walkways leading around the building to more private
terraces set outside each bedroom. The whole building, including
the terraces and verandas, is covered by a massive traditional
makuti (coconut leaf) roof.
The lounge, dining areas and open
kitchen
This spacious area is fully furnished with a large dining table
offering seating for six people, a bureau and chair, two large
sofas/beds and a coffee table. There is satellite TV and a DVD
player with a selection of DVDs, an iPod/MP3 player docking
station and wireless internet available all over the building
and estate. There are also games and books in the cupboards.
The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances, cutlery and
tableware for six people. In the storeroom there is ample
cupboard space and a large fridge freezer with ice cube maker.
The veranda also features a second dining table for six people,
large sofa and two big hammocks for total relaxation. In the
garden you’ll find a small private bar area.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Both bedrooms can be accessed directly via the verandas outside
and from the living room. They are stylishly decorated with
unique antique and African art pieces, bedroom chairs,
full-length wardrobes, and bedside tables and night reading
lamps next to the beds. A traditional king-sized Zanzibari
four-poster bed with quality mattress and mosquito net is the
centerpiece of each room. Additionally there is a traditional
mangrove pole ceiling with ceiling fan and split level
air-conditioning. Each room has a large Zanzibari chest with
padlock for your use as a safe.
Towels and linen are included and are changed at your will by
the housekeeper who can come every day if you so wish.
The bedrooms boast spacious ensuite bathrooms with romantic
sunken baths carved out of local terrazzo that can fit two
people, hot and cold showers with large rain head and good water
pressure, washbasins, mirrors, hairdryers, WCs and opening
windows.
Shared swimming pools and relaxation
area
At the communal area in the center of estate, you are welcome to
use the 14m x 12m swimming pool with built-in children’s pool of
3m x 7m and surrounding recreation area. You’ll find fully
equipped barbeques, and cooking equipment and plates, shower, WC
and changing room. The area also features a large dining table
for 14 people, an honesty bar with fridge, lots of games and
inflatable’s, darts and table tennis. The pool is surrounded by
white sands on which there are tables and chairs, hammocks and
plenty of sun loungers, as well as plenty of shaded areas with
large makuti umbrellas. This is a fantastic place to relax and
socialise.

We would like to state that we have very reliable and trustworthy drivers and buses which we use for some years, our cost may be higher than a local driver but be warned they are unpredictable and often unreliable, the same applies to our car hire service we work with a reliable company and it costs more! NB. We would like to state that we have a very reliable and trustworthy relationship with our local car hire company which we have used successfully for some years. Our cost is higher than many local companies or individuals, who may be cheaper but probably do not have a operating license, nor proper liability insurance and tourism permits, the cars are often not serviced unpredictable and often unreliable, your car can be late, with no fuel in it and no back-up. Don’t forget we are in Africa, with all its wonders, it is not Europe!!! You don’t have many rights and there is no road side AA service!!! We advise you’re strongly not to go cheap on this option. The prices on this page are quoted as the basic cost for a
direct transfer in USD. It is possible to pay in EURO and GBP at our advised
exchange rates. The rates shown in the credit card and PayPal sections below are
including the commissions we have to pay the credit card companies. We therefore
wish it to be understood that this payment method is for your convenience, hence
the extra costs involved.
Prices may be liable to change in times of extreme exchange rate fluctuations.
Please note that all our prices for the entire Villa’s are set
into 2 or 3 seasons; Low – Middle – High.
Rates quoted are per night for the whole villas are for the maximum persons
quoted on this website; we do NOT rent rooms or split bookings within villas. We
have a standard minimum length of stay of 3 nights in low and middle seasons and
6 nights in high season.
